Schedule for District Blogs

Jan-Feb Central
Mar-Apr Southern
May-June Eastern
July-Aug Western
Sept-Oct Northern
Nov-Dec Open to all Districts

As our AFGC Greenleaf blog moves forward, a schedule has been created for districts to submit blogs in order to encourage participation by all our Arizona garden clubs and their members. Each district is assigned two months for submitting blogs. The blogs can be written by the district director or by club members. A minimum of two blogs are sent to the blog manager (azgardenblog@gmail.com) during the two assigned months. However, your district can submit as many blogs as members wish to send.

All districts can submit blogs throughout the year and do not have to wait for their assigned months to submit them. Anyone can submit blogs at any time, and they are very much appreciated. By having two months assigned specifically for each district encourages club members to visit the website more often to read their district’s blogs. Once members are familiar with going to the blog, hopefully they will continue reading other district’s blogs throughout the year.

The blog is meant to be a way for Arizona garden clubs to connect and learn what other clubs are doing, to share information about specific plants and wildlife in Arizona, and to share special projects, activities, and events garden clubs accomplish throughout the year.

Thanks to our District Directors who are responsible for making sure a minimum of two blogs are sent during their district’s assigned months.

Blogs and at least one photo (photographer’s name included in the email) are sent to: azgardenblog@gmail.com. Attach the blog and photos in the email.

Blogs can be read by going to the Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs website and clicking on “blog” in the top menu. Blogs can also be read by going to: azgardenclubs.com/blog.

Guidelines for a Blog

  • 300-500 words, approximately
  • 1-5 photos with photographer’s name in the email for each photo
  • No licensed photos can be used. Free photos are found at pixabay.com and unsplash.com. iStock photos are not free and cannot be used. Your own photos can be used as long as you have consent from the people in the photos that it is okay for their picture to be posted on the blog site.
If you wish, I can find a photo/s for your blog. Specific club events will need club photos.

GOAL: To have as many blogs as possible posted each month from as many garden clubs and members as possible so that all types of information about garden club events and gardening information can be shared.
