NGC President, Donna Donnelly, stated, “Welcome to the Youth Garden Club Handbook! As the president of National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC), I am delighted to invite you on this exciting journey into the world of youth gardening. Your leadership will inspire our young gardeners to cultivate not only plants but also a deeper connection with our environment. This handbook is your tool for forming and growing NGC-Affiliated Youth Clubs that foster a spirit of stewardship and environmental responsibility. Whether you are working with children or teens, each garden grown and every idea nurtured contributes to a healthier, more beautiful world.”

The online handbook provides garden clubs with all the information needed to begin a junior garden club. For our garden clubs to continue, we must attract younger members. By exposing children to the joys of gardening, hopefully, they will want to join a garden club as young adults.

Planning for the future is necessary to keep our garden clubs alive and thriving.

Teaching Children Gardening Skills

Teaching children gardening skills helps them develop an appreciation of nature and will hopefully encourage them to join garden clubs as adults.

The joy of gardening and a love of nature can be learned by children who are in a junior garden club.
