Many thanks to everyone who attended our Northern District gathering at Sharlott Hall in Prescott, AZ, on May 6th, 2026. It was a wonderful event for our three clubs – Alta Vista, Cerbat and Sedona Area Garden Club.
A special thanks to Helen Macfie and Robin Borak from Alta Vista for arranging such a fantastic location. We were lucky to have as our guest speaker the Museum Director, Stuart Rosebrook, who provided an insightful talk about the history of Sharlot Hall and the politics of that era. Helen presented Stuart a check for $2,000 for the new greenhouse being constructed there. Well done, Alta Vista!
Attendance was impressive, with Kingman’s Cerbat club matching the turnout from the other two clubs. I want to recognize VP Barbara Morton, President Toni Bigelow, and incoming President Joann Olson for their help in providing a Great Breakfast menu and the three gift baskets they contributed!
The gift baskets were a real hit with everyone. A Special thanks to Sedona’s own Barabara Otter and Karon Karney for all the lovely gifts they donated, as well as the containers which Karen Cerilli and I helped put together. Karen also got the lovely flowers to be auctioned off, as well. I so appreciated the help of Julie Feder, our incoming President, who rode with me and helped pick up our delicious lunches from Wildflower Restaurant. We successfully made our expenses and were able to distribute a modest profit among all three clubs.
We concluded the day with a garden tour led by head gardener, Josh Nomland. We saw the new sculpture of Sharlott Hall and visited some of the historical buildings. It was a pleasure to share this piece of Arizona history with so many of our first time visitors.
