The Pacific Region convention on Tuesday morning began with a tour of the Arizona Herb Association’s glorious herb garden. Seeing all the herbs that grow well in Arizona made many attendees want to go home and plant more herbs!
The state presidents’ meeting kept officers involved while other members attended Steve Sheard’s program showing how to multi-graft fruit trees. Attendees got to graft their own tomato and potato to hopefully produce both tomatoes and potatoes.
A touching memorial ceremony honored those PR members who passed away this past year.
During Tuesday’s luncheon, keynote speaker Karen Cesar spoke about the Central Arizona Project and the importance CAP has for all southern Arizona cities and agricultural communities.
Afternoon workshops included Color Therapy in Garden and Floral designs presented by Sue Mogon, Low Water Use in Vegetable Gardens presented by Liz Lonetti, and Sustainable Landscaping in Action presented by Liz Lonetti. Rosemary Wade led another fun workshop for attendees to construct native bee hotels.
A reception was held before the Gala Dinner where keynote speaker, Linda Larson, spoke about her adventures while traveling worldwide to over 1,000 gardens. After dinner, installation of new PR officers for 2025-27 was held. Congratulations to Tanja Swanson as the new Pacific Region Director. Centerpieces were created by Desert Designers and table favors by Oregon Garden Clubs.
