Pacific Region Convention was held at the Wyndham Phoenix Airport Hotel from April 28-30. It was a special occasion for garden club members from all Pacific Region states to meet and get to know each other.
Monday was filled with interesting programs, delicious meals, educational workshops, and vendors offering a variety of garden-related products. Early birds were given a tour of the MCC Rose Garden. Committees met to accomplish Pacific Region business, and the PR board of directors held their meeting.
Keynote speaker, Kim Gray, spoke about the Boyce Thompson Arboretum at lunch where centerpieces were created by Gold Canyon Garden Club and table favors by Sedona Garden Club.
Programs throughout the day kept attendees busy. Robin Pokorski gave a fun-filled program called “25 Tips to Boost Membership”. Rosemary Wade led a make-and-take workshop where attendees constructed native bee hotels. A program by author, Dyana Hesson, discussed her art and love of native plants, and a book signing gave members an opportunity to purchase her book, Wild at Art. Kim Rosenlof gave an informative program about seed saving.
The Gala dinner on Monday evening had centerpieces created by Weeders Garden Club and table favors by Alta Vista Garden Club. Many attendees had enough energy after dinner to join in some fun line dancing lessons before heading to bed.
