AFGC President Jennifer Moreland chose as her president’s theme for 2025-2027, “Conservation is Key!”
AFGC garden clubs can focus on natural resources conservation education for our communities by posting informational blogs on the Greenleaf blog (send articles to Karen Bowen’s email address) and on your club’s facebook page (if you don’t have one, make one). You can present a program at one of your club’s monthly meetings or at other organizations’ monthly meetings, at a classroom or nursing home, or anywhere else there is an interested audience. Libraries are always happy to host a program for the public.
Your club can help conserve our natural resources by donating funds to the NGC Plant-A-Tree program that replants burned areas in our National Forests. You can also donate funds to plant trees on Arbor Day, to landscape Habitat for Humanity’s new homes, to plant shrubs or trees at local schools and parks, and to landscape Blue and Gold Star Memorial Marker sites.
Your club can also focus on natural resources conservation by supporting Tanja Swanson’s 2025-2027 theme for Pacific Region, “Plant America: Wild, Wise and Wonderful” and NGC President Donna Donnelly’s theme, “Plant America for the Next 100 Years”.
With so many choices for projects, your club can complete more than one conservation project during the 2026-27 garden club year. Let’s get busy spreading the word that we need to conserve our natural resources and plant, plant, plant more trees, shrubs and other plants to add to the natural beauty around us.
Please submit a blog about any natural resources conservation projects your club completes this year.
