The AFGC Convention is April 27, and the Pacific Region Convention is April 28-30.

Throughout the conventions, there will be eight educational breakout sessions offered on a variety of interesting topics. Below are the first four educational sessions that you can attend.

Making Herbal Teas – April 27, 4 pm-5 pm

LeeAnn Aronson, Phoenix native and master gardener, is presenting a program about using native Sonoran plants in teas and will explain their health benefits. Join LeeAnn to learn about plants growing in our desert that can be used to make beneficial teas. (no additional cost with AFGC convention registration)

25 Tips to Boost Membership – April 28, 9:30 am-10:30 am

NGC Membership Chairman, Robin Pokorski, is presenting a program discussing “25 Tips to Boost Membership”. Robin will offer all kinds of creative ways to attract new members to your garden club. An hour-long roundtable discussion will be held after her program for further conversations about growing club memberships. (no additional cost with PRGC convention registration)

Wild At Art – The Adventures and Art of Dyana Hesson – April 28, 2:30 pm-3:30 pm

Dyana Hesson is a botanical artist and author. Her latest book, The Art of Wildflowers, was recently published by Arizona Highways and will be available for purchase. Dyana is presenting a program describing inspirations and techniques she uses to create her unique artwork. She is currently working on a series of paintings called “Wild Arizona” for the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. (no additional cost with PRGC convention registration)

Beginner’s Guide to Harvesting and Saving Seeds – April 28, 4:15 pm-5 pm

Kim Rosenlof, master gardener and AFGC data base chairman, is presenting a program demonstrating the proper methods of saving seeds from flowers and vegetables grown in your garden. Seed saving is an economical way to grow plants year after year and allows you to share seeds with other gardeners. She will discuss different types of seeds and how to collect and prepare them for storage. You will participate in a hands-on activity where you will learn how to make an origami seed packet that is used to save seeds when you’re out exploring and come across seeds you want to save. (no additional cost with PRGC convention registration)
