Rebecca Davidson, Senior Director of Conservation with the National Forest Foundation, is speaking Wednesday, April 30, 10:30 am, in the Main Ballroom after Pacific Region’s closing ceremonies. Her program discusses holistic reforestation projects across national forests and grasslands. Highlighted will be NFF engaging with communities in their various reforestation projects. As Senior Director, Rebecca provides direction and support to field-based teams in the southwest, southern California, northern Rockies, the Great Lakes and the Midwest who help with reforestation of areas destroyed by wildfires or other natural disasters.

One NFF project has involved replanting saguaros in an area running through Tonto National Forest and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation where the Bush Fire burned 193,000 acres. With community and business support, volunteers and NFF team members have replanted saguaros in the area for three years. Around 80,000 saguaros were lost, so there is still more replanting needed.

Rebecca enjoys exploring the desert with friends, reading mysteries and science fiction, and crafting.
